The Lady of the Lake Quilt Guild was organized in February 1988.  Guild members first met at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake City, Florida, in one of the Sunday School classrooms.  Members were then invited to meet in the back room of the Lighthouse Store owned by Jackie and Jack Rich.  The first donation quilt was created and quilted on a floor frame, and a special thank-you quilt was sewn for them in appreciation for their donated space.  

As the Guild grew in membership over the years, more space was needed for meetings and projects, so the members met in the Southside Recreation Center until 2009.  At that point, the Guild once more changed venues to Teen Town in Lake City.  In January 2013, having once again outgrown the available space, the Guild moved to Bethel United Methodist Church on US Highway 441.  From March 2020 to February 2021, the Guild did not meet due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  During this time, there were no general meetings or group activities. Members kept in touch electronically.  The Guild resumed meetings at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in February of 2021.  In May of 2022, the Guild filed Articles of Incorporation as “Lady of the Lake Quilters Guild, Inc.,” a non-profit corporation in the state of Florida. In November of 2024 the Guild moved to First United Methodist Church.

The intent of the members of the Lady of the Lake Quilters Guild is to:

•   Provide community service through the donation of quilts to various institutions in the North Florida area.

•   Preserve the heritage of quilting.

•   Inform and inspire the creative efforts of all its members.

•   Perpetuate excellence in quilting and related textile arts and crafts.

•   Provide meeting opportunities with those sharing common interests.  

The Guild is fortunate to have a membership committed to providing for the special interests and needs of individual Guild members.  This ensures that the programs, activities, and educational opportunities offered throughout the year give encouragement and inspiration to all levels of expertise. 

General Guild meetings are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, beginning at 10:00am. Social time starts at 9:00am.  

Brief, informative programs or activities are usually presented at each Guild meeting.  These presentations are free to members and range from lectures and demonstrations to videos and hands-on activities.

Guests are always welcome!  After two visits, guests are invited to become Guild members.
